Alan AbramsAlan Abrams, CPBD has been building and renovating homes since 1975.

His objective is to combine the best of sustainable building practices with the traditions that make our vintage homes so comfortable and appealing.

Alan is a professional member of the American Institute of Building Design, and is certified by the National Council of Building Designer Certification.

Since moving his practice to the Washington, DC area in 1980, Alan has built or significantly remodeled more than a hundred homes.

He is the recipient of numerous awards for design and preservation, including:

Best In Show Green Remodeling Certificate Program Award (2007) - NARI Metro DC
Honor Award of Excellence (2005) — American Institute of Building Design
Outstanding Architect/Designer Special Achievement Award (2001) — Montgomery Preservation, Inc.
Preservation Award for New Construction in an Historic District (1997) — Montgomery Preservation, Inc.

Abrams has taken a leadership role in promoting the practice of green building at the local and national level. He has drafted and ramroded a resolution in support of green building adopted by the American Institute of Building Design. He presently serves on their Universal and Sustainable design committee. He is also helping to create a national standard for greenbuilding, serving on the GBI-ANSI site planning sub-committee. At the local level he’s a founding member of the NARI Metro DC Greenbuilding Committee.

Abrams lives with his wife, Janet, at Parkside Plaza in a condo remodeled of sustainable materials.

Amy Abrams, Client Services

Amy has a unique set of talents that she brings to Abrams Design Build. She is often the first person you will talk to about your potential project. Her desire to help and share information and her love of finding a common ground with new acquaintances are a great fit with her role as “Client Liaison”. Amy also brings experience in graphic design to ABD and enjoys adding content to the website and submitting artwork and copy for various publications.   

Amy’s experience at Abrams Design Build thus far has opened her eyes to her own footprint on the earth. She has an inherent love of nature and, as a jewelry designer, uses natural motifs and materials in her work. She is very happy to note that a large portion of her work is made from pure silver that has been recycled from industrial processes. Read more about her work at her website.

Cesar Aguetta - Carpenter

Cesar is our newest addition to the ADB staff. He has lived in the Takoma Park area for many years and we look forward to getting to know him better.

Bruce T White, B.E. - University of Maryland, Lead Carpenter

Bruce is a 3rd generation master carpenter who's great gandfather owned a saw mill in Tennessee. He loves his work and takes pride in making the best product for our clients. His education started as a small boy, under his father and grandfather and continued in an apprenticeship program through high school. After high school Bruce attended University of Maryland and earned a degree in mechanical engineering while playing football for the Terps.

In his spare time Bruce likes to spend time with his daughter, the "light of his life". Bruce keeps just a little busy, spending time at the Delaware shore fishing, hiking the Appalachian trail and riding motorcycles and bicycles. He is a life member of the Montgomery County Fire and Rescue department and is a master firefighter. He has also earned paramedic, high rescue team and under water rescue team certification.

Bruce lives in Kensington, MD with his Jack Russell, Snowball, and his Dalmation, Meadow.

Kevin Wright, Project Manager and Estimator, has over 25 years of experience in residential remodeling.

Kevin came to Abrams Design Build in October 2004. He has vast experience in carpentry, construction project management and estimating. He has worked for a number of different building companies in the Washington, DC area. At Abrams Design Build he performs several critical functions including project estimating, scheduling, materials procurement, bookkeeping, project management, and interacting with clients to keep our projects running smoothly. Kevin's goal is to help our clients realize their home improvement dreams while working within the scope of their budgets.

Kevin lives in Aspen Hill, Maryland with his wife.
