Our Design Build Process is collaborative and seamless, based
on mutual trust and cooperation. We emphasize an integrated
design process, interacting with our clients at any level of
detail they desire, sometimes going through several iterations
before we reach the agreed-upon design. From beginning to completion,
we encourage full participation: all of our clients have the
opportunity to meet and talk with experts in each discipline—structural
engineers, energy auditors, landscape designers, carpenters,
masons, electricians, and plumbers.
We emphasize designs, methods, approaches, and materials that
meet sustainability criteria, often providing valuable education
to our clients on enhancing the space in their homes in ways
that are healthier, safer, and more affordable to operate and
maintain. We strive for maximum energy efficiency wherever possible,
and delight in finding ways to increase livable space without
increasing monthly utility bills.
After construction has commenced, the designer is routinely
on site and in contact with the owners—to interpret and
further develop the plans, to anticipate problems before they
manifest, and to take advantage of design opportunities that
present themselves. When issues arise, there is a clear line
of authority to resolve them, without controversy or delay.
We are also sensitive to our clients' financial needs, carefully
avoiding any rude surprises at the end of the project. One great advantage of the design build process is that we create our budgets as we create the design, allowing for greater freedom and flexibility.
